12 volt Emergency System

12 VOLT EMERGENCY SYSTEM

The only external electrical control is the 12 Volt Emergency System Test Switch found under the air gauges. HC Mk1 Flexible Aquaponics Systems are furnished with a 12 volt battery powered emergency system.

When 240 volt MAINS POWER fails, the Air pumps shut down, providing only 20 minutes until the fish commence starving for oxygen. To alleviate this problem, The 12 volt emergency system automatically activates the 3 venturis placed in the fish tank.

The venturis provide two essential benefits.

Firstly air is drawn into the water, to increase the level of dissolved oxygen in the water.

Secondly these devices create water movement for the fish

Triggered by a marine float switch, the 12 volt system turns itself on. When mains power is restored, the emergency system turns itself off automatically. At no time are You required to do anything

A 12volt 30amp hour battery provides electricity to run the venturis for up to 24 hours. A smart charger ensures the battery is fully maintained to be always ready should mains power fail… The ventures should be tested and observed once per week to make sure they are functioning properly. This is done with the emergency test switch,

Turn on for enough time to inspect the venturis. Once inspection is complete turn the emergency switch to the off position. The test procedure should take no more than 5 minutes.
